Elmira homeowners don't need another sales pitch about their roof — they need someone who shows up, explains what's actually wrong, and fixes it right the first time.
Roof Repair Smedway grew out of Elmira, NY job sites, not a corporate rollout plan — that's still how we staff every Roofing crew we send to Elmira.
We don't treat licensing as a formality — it's proof that the person on your roof knows what they're doing and that you're covered if anything goes sideways.
Every Roofing job, from a single flashing repair to a full Elmira tear-off, gets built to the same standard: the one that holds up, not the one that's fastest to invoice.
Proof of licensing before the first ladder goes up.
Someone answers, every time, day or night.
You approve a number before the crew touches your roof.
Crews dispatched from within Elmira, NY, not another region entirely.
A roof rarely just fails one day — it usually spends months quietly showing signs that get written off as cosmetic.
None of the six signs below require an emergency call on their own, but each one is worth a scheduled inspection before it turns into something bigger.
Shingles shed their protective granules as they wear down, and a gutter full of grit is an early tell.
Once a shingle starts warping, its seal against wind-driven rain is already compromised.
Daylight visible through the attic roof boards means water has the same path in.
A spreading brown ring on a ceiling almost always means water is tracking in from somewhere on the roof.
An unexplained bill increase is worth checking against your roof's condition.
A bare patch after high wind is a direct gap in your roof's weather barrier that needs covering right away.
Not every call needs the same fix, so we scope each Elmira job individually instead of running everything through one generic quote.
Read through the categories and you'll usually recognize your own roof problem in one of them — that's intentional, since we scope calls the same way we've organized this list.
Active leaks get priority dispatch — a temporary cover first, a proper repair as soon as the crew can get materials on-site.
Our residential scope covers shingle repair, full reroofs, ventilation upgrades, and skylight flashing fixes.
Commercial roofs run different membrane systems entirely, and our crews are trained specifically on TPO, EPDM, and modified bitumen.
We'll tell you honestly whether your roof needs a full replacement or just a targeted repair — we don't default to the bigger invoice.
A proper inspection checks flashing, fasteners, ventilation, and granule wear before small issues become leaks.
Chimney crickets, skylight seals, and valley flashing are common leak points that general repair crews often miss.
Homeowners tell us the not-knowing is often worse than the repair itself, so we try to remove as much guesswork from the process as we can.
A dispatcher logs your address, roof type, and the problem, then schedules based on urgency.
The inspection covers decking, flashing, and ventilation, not just the obvious visible damage.
Financing and insurance-claim questions are addressed at this stage.
Warranty paperwork is handed over the same day the job wraps.
If you've been burned by a roofing company before, these are the specific things we do differently, not just a promise that we're "better."
We give you an honest arrival window instead of a vague "sometime this week."
The number you approve in writing is the number on your final invoice, barring an approved scope change.
Crews carry moisture meters and proper fall protection on every job site.
If the finished work doesn't match what was agreed, we come back and fix it at no charge.
We're not your insurance company, but we make that part of the process easier.
If a repair solves the problem, that's what we recommend — we don't push a replacement to inflate the invoice.
Every job closes with a written workmanship guarantee, separate from whatever the material manufacturer already covers — if something's wrong, we come back and fix it.
If something unexpected turns up mid-job, like hidden decking damage, we flag it and get your approval before it changes your bill.
If you ever need to use the guarantee, the process is a phone call, not a fight.
